GCDD: Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities

The Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities is the state's leading advocate for public policy that benefits people with developmental disabilities. The Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) seeks to implement social and policy reforms to increase opportunities for people with various developmental disabilities and their families to live, learn, work, play, and help in the community.

In this work, I’ve worked with the creative team at Claritas Creative, producing digital design work ranging from web carousel designs to leading email design projects and serving as the editor of a Spanish seasonal magazine.

Web Carousel Designs

GCDD works with many companies and organizations to assist families and individuals with disabilities. GCDD's website is heavily visited. From the many resources in the community, GCDD promotes many events and information displayed on the front page of their website. A senior designer and I designed the Carousel web graphics at Claritas Creative.

Monthly Email Design

GCDD includes monthly email subscribers, allowing their audience to stay connected and updated with any news or event for the next few weeks. As the lead designer, I design the layout and written materials for the monthly email. Keeping GCDD guidelines allows me to bring new interactive ways to gather the audience's attention. I edited the layout using the program constant contact and images through Adobe Lightroom and chose the color palette. The email is sent under the senior designer and client's approval and to thousands of people across the United States.

Editorial Design

GCDD has a seasonal magazine publication called Making a Difference, which Claritas Creative designs. Each magazine is based on the season and events; it allows for GCDD's direct audience to gather a lot of resources and information about topics and keep up to date with news about the company. This interaction means a lot to GCDD and its audience. GCDD also includes the Spanish version of each magazine. I work very closely with the senior designer on the editorial design for the English version magazine. Then, I work with the Spanish translation team in which I design, translate and structure the Spanish version to ensure it is similar to the English version—moving and working with typography design techniques to have both are very similar as possible.
